The VATA Ostomy Pouching Trainer helps medical students and clinicians to understand and demonstrate to staff,  patients and family members what the ostomy pouch will look and feel like. This Ostomy Pouching Trainer is proven to help reduce pre-operative anxiety and initial reaction to the pouch.

Seeing the stomas, their location and the function of the various types, including the discharge from them, is essential to learning about and understanding Ostomy Pouching. Correct and medically accurate teaching helps to increase the patients’ understanding of their condition and informs them of any adjustments that they may need to make to their life whilst living with the Ostomy Pouch.

The Ostomy Pouching Trainer will enable the individual to practice correct pouching techniques to maintain healthy skin, whilst developing good hand-eye coordination.

Pre-operative teaching with the pouching trainer can reduce the patient's anxiety, enabling them to have a deeper understanding of ostomies.

The Ostomy Pouching Trainer is reversible and rotatable. There are four stomas included which can be used for practising:

• Urostomy with Stents
• Loop Stoma (bridge not included)
• End Stoma
• Flush Stoma

The Ostomy Pouching Trainer contains placements for the following conditions:

• Contact dermatitis
• Standard healthy skin
• Flush placement with folds and mucocutaneous separation
• Candidiasis
