Introducing the Canine Neuter Simulator, a trainer that enables veterinary students and instructors to repeatedly practice and gain confidence in the canine neuter procedure.
The testes are each equipped with two simulated vessels to accurately replicate the vas deferens and the vascular supply. Additionally, it is covered with a pouch layer designed to imitate the tunica albuginea, for enhanced realism. The reusable base is designed with a raised ridge that mimics the shape of a penis for the purpose of palpation, along with a tube that simulates the urethra.
Two surgical approaches to castration are the scrotal and pre-scrotal methods. The application of a lubricating gel allows for the advancement of the testes, thereby enabling users to gain proficiency in the conventional method of testicle removal.
Following the pre-scrotal technique, the testes can be amputated through either a closed or open surgical technique. Once the procedure is complete, the skin incision can be closed. This provides the students with the opportunity to practice their suturing skills, to achieve optimal healing and minimal scarring in the canine.
The state-of-the-art Canine Neuter Simulator is an essential tool in veterinary education, providing students with the opportunity to develop their clinical competence in aseptic canine castration. A small replacement kit is provided with the trainer, allowing veterinary students to engage in continuous practice and attain a high degree of proficiency.
