Enhance emergency rescue training with the Helicopter Winch Manikin, a manikin designed specifically for helicopter-based water rescues, where the casualties must be winched directly from water. It is vital that casualties are winched using correct techniques to prevent injury, as well as cardiac problems associated with the sudden release of hydrostatic squeeze. The manikin is ideal for the use of coastguards, lifeguards, the Ministry of Defence Army & Navy, Fire & Rescue services, offshore operators, and shipping industries.
The manikin is constructed to simulate a live person or dead body and can float horizontally, vertically or at 45 degrees. The tough nylon mesh carcass allows the water to penetrate the manikin quickly, causing the legs to drop beneath the surface, leaving only the head and shoulders visible, if desired.
The legs are lighter than the standard Man Overboard Manikin, so floats more readily when fitting the harness/strops in water. Additionally, once winched the manikin will sit and remain in a stable ??W ? position. To prevent excessive leg movements and to keep the legs together, there are buckle clips on the inside of knees and ankles.
For an enhanced training experience, the manikin is clothed with bright orange overalls and has SOLAS reflective tape on the head, ensuring it is highly visible to the trainees. In addition to the overalls, it comes with boots, and both the boots and overalls are easily replaceable if damaged. To increase the training difficulty level, a black search & rescue hoodie can be purchased separately to decrease visibility and cover the manikin.
The manikin is constructed using the same flame-retardant material which is used in Police ballistic/stab vests. This makes it durable and tough enough to withstand being buried under heavy objects or dropped from height without damage. It should be noted that although it is durable, it should not be used in temperatures above 100 degrees Celsius and flashover scenarios.
The Helicopter Winch Manikin has been professionally designed to provide users with a realistic experience and is a valuable addition to helicopter rescue training.
